Avet review

Don't get excited I'm no engineer or prodect review guru but Mr. Sandman asked a question about Avet reels and I'll try to add what I've "seen" . . . no promises on the pictures I'm a googin when it comes to this techno stuff . . . .

The Avet LX compared to a Penn 113H

The Avet loaded with 50 pound mono weighs in at 29 ounces, the 113H at 39 ounces . . . I don't know what this means for surfcasting applications but for jiggin' cod . . . . 10 ounces is a meaningful difference

It broke my heart - but I broke the Avet down as far as I dared (did I mention I'm a googin ?) Don't know whether the picture will show it but attached to the side of the spool (middle item) with a "keeper ring" is the HT 100 drag material same as a Penn (or so I've been told) a very simple but effective - thus far - lever drag concept . . . I have this reel set at 15 pounds of drag (remember this is 50 pound mono for cod - your mileage may vary). Notice the simplicity of the "take down" two screws on the frame and one thumb screw on the lever drag was all it took to break this down.

The side plate with the ID: Like I said in Sandman's thread I've only used it once but I'd be happy to answer any questions if I could
