Question super basic question.

I am just starting to tye some siwash hooks for my plugs and wondered what the best way to cut the bucktail to get it to lay properly on the hook. Do you start at the bottom or top of the tail?
Thanks for your help. Like i said super basic!

justplugit, I start on the bottom, if it gets curlie, or wont lay flat after you tie it on, just SOAK it in HOT water, thats should strighten it out.
GOOD LUCK GOOD TYIN

Does that work well? I always heard that if it was dried curled it will stay curled, but maybe if the curl is due to the packing it will straighten. Either way I try to stay away from curled bucktail

I finish almost all of my flies by running them under STEAMING hot tap water before they go in the box.

I usually cut the bucktail after tying it in and like salty, i start tying at the bottom and work up.
