Nausett Beach- Cape Cod Info?

I will be on vacation the week of Aug 13th and will be staying close to Nausett Beach. Since I have never fished this area before I was wondering if I could get some advice, on shore fishing there and by boat? Also is there a public boat ramp close to the beach? Would this be my best bet in that area?
If you want e-mail me: doca3@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Don

I haven't fished Nauset much so I'm going to pass on offering much Nauset info other than it's probably best at the inlet but lots of talk about weeds. Don't know how that will be in a few weeks...

Boat ramps? There is SAQUATUCKET HARBOR (decent parking)in Harwich and I think there are a couple ramps in Chatham (limited parking), one at Stage Harbor and one (at least) in Pleasant Bay... Those are ideal to fish Monomoy (could be tough on an 18 footer) but are a little bit from Nauset. Not sure of any other facilities though...

a good link for you... http://www.state.ma.us/dfwele/PAB/pabSEmap.htm

If you launch out of Saquetucket Harbor you can head east and cut through Monomoy, go out the cut and about a mile out of the inlet you'll find fish. These fish have been there all summer, and are fairly easy to catch with sluggos on jigheads, but dont be afraid to try an eel out there to maybe get some of the bigger fish.
If you're going to fish Nauset, you can park in the main lot and fish the beach in either direction. Its a long walk north to Nauset Inlet which is the most productive of the two. About a mile south of the public beach is Pochet hole. Fish your way down and back with black eels or with a needlefish and teaser. Dropping tides have been good up until the first hour of the incoming, but fish when you can. Big sand eels have been prevalent. You might also want to try parking at Chatham Lighthouse and fishing inside Chatham inlet. This area is best fished during the last 3 hours of the drop. Eels are your best bet.
