Merrimack River 5/23 - where is the sun?

Fished yesterday afternoon from about noon until 5:00. Nothing. Threw storms and then even tried bait (clams). Nothing....no hits...didn't see any action on other boats. Fished from the mouth back to the toothpick. Then anchored back in the harbor.

When is the nice weather coming back???

Did see seals all over the place - especially near badger rocks. They were actually playing in the water...smacking their fins and tails....wonder if it's mating season???

Mating season? Jim,, get you mind back on fishing!

The seals are there all winter long!

I would hate to latch on to a nice striper out there now! No only will you fight the fish, the seal will give you a fight for the fish as well!

The fish are all up river chasing herring towards the Lawrence dam. Was out last thursday and got 6 fish--5 keeper size 30" to 34" catch and release. The weather is killing the fishing right now but when it clears there will be lots more where those came from.
