Bait: Menhaden

Through my research I keep coming across the use of Menhaden as bait for stripers. I was wondering what everyone thought of it because I was thinking of trying it next week when I'm back at the Jersey shore points.

When I caught my first bass I was hooked more than the fish.

where you find pogies, you usually find the big girls! stripers LOVE menhaden. as far as bait goes it may be second to only eels.

NIB: What bait are you using?

Every one I've talked to in my wanderings have told me that clams are the bait of choice of choice, but that has resulted in 0 fish for me. I'm looking for anything that might break that streak. When the beaches get crowded with the once a year fishermen i usually pack in the striper equipment and save it for later on when they're all home (but it doesn't matter since I don't catch anything on squid, clams, small baitfish, or plugs anyway) and head over to a tog hole with light tackle.
