I wouldn't mind paying extra (esp for elites) that had SS hooks. You do a real nice job tying on those matching tail hooks and it is a shame to scrap it because the hook rusts out in a couple weeks. (I have to say though that rinsing them off in FW and letting them dry in the sun greatly extends the life of vmc's...leaving them wet in a surf bag is a recipe for a rapid death)
I have not tried those 6X vmc's...they must be pretty tough too.
I know a lot of guys don't like stainless and say they snap, but I have had a box of SS trebles from eagle claw for several years now and I have not had one snap...I did snap one once when I tried to break it with pliers in a vice but it took a lot. What will break will be the split ring..if you use SS, (esp with braid) you need a super strong split ring....something has to give.
They don't rust but it is hard to sharpen them like as good as a vmc.
One other thing...you get a SS hook embedded in your body and you have a real problem. It is not that easy to cut with a pair of hand pliers. I saw this happen when I fellow had one driven thru the bridge of his nose. (his whole face swelled and when black and blue) and they took him to the hospital with a red fin on his face. They cut it with a dremel tool like saw in the hospital.
