Launched my homemade boat today

After a year and a half building a 11 ft epoxy and plywood boat, I finally set it in the water today. I still need to register it so I had to use oar power but it holds 4 comfortably.

How about the Mayflower?

I think my daughter wants me to name it the Jenna Rose, after her.

It rows well, but the motor is definately the way to go, so once it is registered, I will be finding out how well I got the bottom straight and true.

No fish yet, didn't bring the poles. in due time though.

Slipknot,

Nice work. Was that your design or someone elses. Is it chined or stitch and glue. did you glass it on the outside. What type of ply did you us?

Get ready for a little hassle when you go to register it. The 2 boats that I built, well you have to make a date with the Green Police to come down and inspect the boat and issue you a hull ID number. They make sure you didn't steal it etc. This just really turns into a BS session and you talk about boating and fishing. That is if the cop is a decent guy and all.

Nice work! You should be proud. I am sure you will get many years of good service. This boat will out last you. Someday some little boy is going to say..."my great great grandpa made this boat!"

Thanks, the boat is glassed on the bottom but only for abrasion resistants. with 6 oz cloth.
It was made from Okume plywood.
http://www.bmwoodworking.com/gv11.htm here is a web page I have about the construction which I badly need to update.

I painted it with Interlux Brightsides since it will be kept on a trailer.

I hope to keep it a loooong time.

I think that's awesome!

Not a lot of people realize how much time doing something like that actually takes.

Congratulations!

Great name for the boat - Jenna Rose - and if Danny is a little jealous tell him you'll name a seat without cushions for his being a pain in ... ooooops - Just kidding Danny just a little good natured ribbing

Glad to see you splashed the boat Slip! Great work! I thought it looked awesome when I saw it a couple weeks ago !

That's pretty neat Bruce... its not as nice as the boat Patrick made, but he was special

Throw a center console in there, a honda off the back... minn kota on the bow... you'll be all set.

Good luck, that's a cool thing that you did, you should be proud.
