Fraying Braid

Just thought I'd ask you guys about something regarding Power Pro.

A few months ago I used someone's bulk PP spool to add line to one of my reels. It is a smoke color( I didnt even know they made smoke color) which has retained its color and has not frayed after repeated use.

I bought some 300yd spools of PP in the typical Green and after a few times of use I'm seeing areas of fraying and it is scaring me that I am losing line strength with every cast. I'm fishing similar areas etc, meaning I'm not suddenly fishing rocks and stuff.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Any spectra fibre is naturally white.pigments appllied last a short time because the don't really stick. I like to use SIC guides bein harder an smoother I think they cause less wear on the line.U should at least have a SIC tip.this is the spot where the angle is greatest on the line.it will help dramatically in the line wear department.Power pro seems to have the most issuses with consistantly producing there product.Thats why i don't use it.FireLine in most applications for me.

I do have one rod with a SIC tip, the others dont. I try and clean the guides good so they are smooth as possible. Does the Firline fray less?

True about the consistancy with PP. The grey one I have is like steel and the others are all looking like wool almost. lol
