Lodging in Newport?
OK, so I've seen some good suggestions on where to eat in Newport but I need some lodging suggestions. The Little Italian Woman wants me to take her on a three day getaway out of Maine. I was told to pick the spot but it has to be romantic (aka = $$$) and near some stuff to do as she knows I'll sneak away for some FISHING. So, me thinks that Newport ain't a bad option. Anyone ever stayed at Castle Hill? I know that there are lotso spots to stay in Newport but it has to be a $$$....uh romantic place. Oh yeah, and I suspect that the fishing ain't too shabby during the Oct 12 -16 timeframe, yes?

Castle Hill is very romantic and very $$$ but really close to good fishing spots. Sneak out after she goes to sleep.

There Is a Best Western across from 1st beach. You can walk over and fish. About 180 per night but the rooms are all suites. The staff is very friendly. Have Fun

The Hyatt on Goat Island is nice nice. On the main land there is I believe the name of a real nice place is Ocean Cliff Masion Hotel which is right near the water... and you gotta go to Flo's clam shack for clam cakes, eat one too many for me....

Great suggestions! Keep um coming. Yeah, Castle Hill is a bit on the $$$ side but I've heard it's nice plus I know the eats are great as a fishing bud has done the dinner deal. Goat Island, huh? Hmmmm, now that has possibilities too. Hey Chief, shhhhh.....the woman has uncanny ways of finding out stuff. I'm pretty sure that I can pull away for some daylight fun but the night life might be a problem....unless I can get one of yahs to hatch up a devious plot to get me out of the "house". Hmmmm, where is Saltheart whh yah need um?

If you stay at oceancliff let me know, i work there. Ill take you across the bridge for an all nighter of fatty cows, or point you a few spots that you can walk to.

Castle Hills a great place to stay, eat, fish, and drink. If you can swing the $$, you can't go wrong... plus you can fish without getting in your car.
Flo's is a great clam shack. I also recommend Tucker's and the Salvation Cafe... great food at both

Without a doubt , Castle Hill is the Cats Behind for impressing the ladies. Everything is very nice and very $$$. If you have to call and ask how much...you should go somewhere else! Only complaint is she'll need a car to go anywhere. Castle Hill is all by itself way out near where you'll want to fish but there will be nothing for her to do within walking distance.
Newport Marriot is right there in the middle of the action. Its nice , near everthing , it has a bar and restaurant , etc. Its halfway between Brick Market and the Harbor area shopping which is what she'll want. All things considered , its a better deal.
There is also the Traeadway Inn (I think its still called that. ) Also right there on the main drag and a short walk for her to all the shopping etc.?? I think its a little less money tha the Marriot but not sure. certainly both are a lot lower than Castle Hill.
While there , goo to Newport Blues Cafe for a few drinks and Music. Its the "In" palce. Get there early , it gets crowded.

Oh yeah , I missed the last question...Fishing along the Coast of Newport in Mid October , if you want big Fish , is well about the best in the world other than a certain island very close by.

The construction company I work for did a massive interior and exterior restoration and renovation job at Castle Hill. The place IS NICE.The new bar area is the balls.
Prepare to pay big coin though. The tower suite is over $1400 a night! It is a nice room though!
