Launched in Plymouth and I headed up to the H bouy at 6:30 in the fog which was very heavy at times. Really makes me nervous without radar but we were not running too fast and kept a sharp eye out. It was deader than Elvis around the H so we took off SE to the race and it was a bit bumpy with a big SE swell on the way down until we got inside CC Bay. It was clear in the middle of the bay but foggy again as we got 5 miles from the race. I was in <40' vis and a big humpback sounded 20' to starboard and scared the heck out of us. I was uncomfortable in that area without radar and headed back to the middle of tha bay. Oh well... the wind came up much earlier than forecasted and made it sloppy at times and with no tuna showing we decided to bag it. On the way back over to Plymouth I saw a big seiner 10 miles east of the powerplant named North Queen. She was laying to with the flopper stoppers out with birds in the air just drifting. First time I saw a seine boat in the bay.
