A "teaser rig" w/eels ???
I usually use a teaser rig with all my plugs, swimmers and top water with relativly good luck. Actually, I bet it is close to 60% of my fish hit the teaser or something like that. My question is, does anyone use a teaser rig with eels? or am I just being an idiot I have no clue what those slimmey suckas eat so, I dunno if I am hurting my chances or not anyone have and suggestions? (who am I kiddin, everyone has opinions here) Thnx
Tony Stetsko cought his 73lb fish or whatever it was on a teaser in front of an eel. So I would say yes give it a try. I would leave at least 18in between the eel and the teaser.
as stated, Tony took Bertha on that set up. the only bit of advice i could give is you may run into problems fishing a rocky area with a teaser ahead of an eel. i have never done it because of this reason. the last thing i want is another hook for the eel to get hung in a rock on me. if i was a sand sissy, i would add a teaser more often.

Keep the eel moving slowly. More tangles on the teaser if you are not careful. Also , I like the teaser about 3 feet up from the eel. IMO , the best set up is a rigged eel and a teaser rather than a live one. a good second choice is a dead eel and a teaser. Use a very short drop on the teaser when used with a live eel to minimize your chance of a knotted mess.
