So I'm thinking of buying a condo on the water in Costa Rica

Anybody done anything like this? I have a friend who did and it's been cool. Cost is still very low. I know the fishing there is pretty good...

Just looking for any experience that may be out there...

thanks,

I beleive the airport is almost completed. If you're going to buy, buy before its completed if its the area I'm thinking of... Cuz once its done foggitaboutit...... Many German and Dutch tourists eat those properties up...

Domination takes full concentration..

Forget the condo and use the money to buy a franchise down there-a subway or quiznos or something like that. The native babes will be all over you. Live the life of Reilly. Come back for the stripers from time to time.

Lightbulb

Came close to pulling the trigger on a place down there.

But I'm going to do something even more exotic - get a place in South County, RI.

Not sure what the cost is now...when we were looking at them earlier this year you could still get a modest place for about 50 grand.

Just for sugar and giggles, how far of a plane ride, cost of flight is it to Costa Rica?

I'm curious to know how convenient and costs you'd have to shell out regularly to get down there. Sounds like an amazing place... offshore fish just miles away, inshore roosters, etc and practically virgin snook and tarpon fishing. Big snook and tarpon.

Someday... after the kids are a bit older.

John... an SB.com condo? That would be pretty cool.

Are there like, poisonous snakes and spiders down there? That would be the one thing I wouldn't dig.

Schoolie,
I'm not sure about the spiders, but they do have some big ones and aren't all spiders poisonous to some extent? Anyway, yes they do have some very poisonous snakes, but if you stay on the beach you're o.k. they stay in the jungle.

So what's the prime area, what's the season like, but most importantly to me; how much boat do you really need to fish those waters. Is this big ass rollers of the Pacific or coastal fishing and can I trailer the Lund down. Post some spots, come one what are the odds your burning them hear, I'm curious about species, seasons, cost of travel and staying short and long term.

costa rica has 2 coasts caribbean and pacific its has several different regions ranging from jungle mountain forests with waterfalls to atlantic coastal plain with a couple of volcanoes thrown in. It has a rainy or green season and a dry season. Mewsette and i fished the northern pacific coast near liberia in november of 2002 We caught loads of yellowfin up to 125 lbs and we had a couple over 300lbs. that came off after 1 hour fight. we caught billfish as well, she got her first marlin over 400 lbs as well as sailfish wahoo and dorado snook and tarpon are more prevalent on the atlantic side and theres awesome peacock bass fishing down there as well The people werevery friendly and most of them spoke english the food was vry good theresa dish that th locals eat for breakfast its called gallo pinto try it you'll like.
