Angry If you keep eels alive at home.....

Don't forget to change the water frequently! I just walked into my laundry room, which, by chance happens to be the gateway to my garage where all things fishing are kept. Well I smelled an awful smell upon my arrival. After checking the usual spots, litter box and potato cabinet I noticed that familiar hummmm sound that my aerator makes. Suddenly I realized the error of my ways. I always keep a few dozen eels on hand in the late part of the season, and I am done fishing but I forgot to let those little buggers go. Well, when I opened the door I was met with something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies. My eel tank was bubbling over with brown death foam and a stink like no other stink was silently choking me to death.

I had nowhere to go, I removed the tube, grabbed the tank, held my breath and ran out the door into the street. There's no way I was putting this in my car for a drive down to the water. So I did what any one of us would do.... dumped them down the storm drain in front of my neighbors house, not my house. Well about 40 pokes with a stick and 8 dry heaves later each of the eels had fallen into the storm drain with a spalsh, and I had to extract a few stubborn eels that had fastened themselves to the bottom of the bucket with some kind of cloudy whitish nastyness. I did this with a plastic shopping bag. Then I grabbed the 1st two scented cleaners I could find and soaked everything down with windex and febreez. So if you have some eels alive somewhere in your home I suggest you check them.

I had a similar experience. My wife let me know when one had "crossed the bar"

"Get those dead things living in the cellar out of here"

They would get out and be under the washing machine, boxes - everywhere.

I remember a flat of Butterfish stashed up in the console of my old Mako....fisherwoman and I found out where the smell was coming from that day....
