Stren Super Braid.

I love the stuff, had better luck with it than PP. I cant remeber if a fella at Rivers End in Saybrook said they were going to stop making it. Has anyone heard anything about that? Not sure if he going to stop carrying it or they were going to quit making it. He said a lot of people complained bout mystery breaks. PP sells a lot better for him.

Everything is better on the rocks.

I hated it but with anything I think it was the reel I tried it on. Some reel are not as braid friendly as others.

Why even try.........

Stren was bought out by Pure Fishing (Berkley). We were not sure what they are going to do with the company. The Stren Braid is 20% higher in cost than any other braid . I'm the same situation as Rivers End We also sell about 80 Bluk spools of PP , 6 spools of Stealth and 1 spool of stren , Who would you carry??

I use 40 lb SB on my Stradic 5K - works ok. I notice I do get more "wind knots" w/ it, but I attribute that to user error - I'm throwing light lures in moderate surf. I tie direct w/ short section of fluoro and don't use a swivel.

The Stren Braid came out this year - not sure why they would discontinue it so soon. If you like it that much buy a few extra spools and tuck them away - braid never goes bad.

I do miss the Whiplash in 30 lb. That stuff was SO thin - any one got some they want to trade me? If so please pm me.

Mystery breaks IMHO are those damn "wind knots" that you can't always see/feel and when you wind up to launch it the line basically cuts itself. I have had it happen with just about ALL braid especially when I can't keep good tension on the line when bring it back in.

Conventionals will work w/ just about any braid. It is the foolish spinning reels that create the problems. Folks compain about it, but leave out the details at times. WTF do I know - I've tried just about every major braid on the market and don't rave about one over another. I haven't tried the store market brands sold thru big names online - rather buy it local and support the little shops.

I got a whole spool of the Wiplash 50lb white.
I use it for pull threads while rod building.

apparently i am one of the few that uses it. I think i will try PP next season, will get it from Mike, im sure it will be better than the spool i had to buy at wally world at 10 oclock in wareham. the line broke a few times, mystery breaks, i heard that PP had some issues a bit earolier on, it was probably an old spool.

Everything is better on the rocks.

I tried it this year and it worked wonderfully, I'd highly recommend it.
