I thought you might like the pics after reading your history of needles. I was part of a group of Worcester Striper nutz that hung out ( and I worked for in the winter) at a place called #^&#^&#^&#^&'s Wholesale Tackle. #^&#^&#^&#^& Pleska was the owner and his son Wayne worked for him. Both #^&#^&#^&#^& and Wayne have passed on now, way to early for both of them. #^&#^&#^&#^& distributed all over Eastern Mass and Cape Cod. We heard something was going on on Block and #^&#^&#^&#^& had a buddy who was a charter skipper out there who told him that big bass could be had around Thanksgiving and that guys had strted using a plug called a Needlefish.
Well #^&#^&#^&#^& got on the phone to a distributor and ordered up a bunch of Boone stuff as that was all that was commercially available. At that time, because of my realtionship with Stan and John Gibbs, #^&#^&#^&#^& approched them and John said that he was getting inquiries from other guys and so he started making them as well and the rest I guess is history. The natural Eel Boone was my fav but they just didn't hold up on big bass that were hitting them at Black Rock and such places. We had white ones and yellow ones too, but I lost all those on fish.
Funny thing how word gets out and the developments that follow. Our little group was not the first to use them at Block, your group was probably one of if not the first but we were certainly close behind. The Thanksgiving trip started just after lunch at home and we would all meet at #^&#^&#^&#^&s and head to New London to catch the ferry that evening. The first year we went it snowed the first two nights! After that experience we instead took them to the Cape Cod sands which was our home turf and though we caught fish on them we still did better on large Windcheater and six inch Windcheater Rebels so we put them aside and generally only used them on occasion.
I always thought of them as a Block Island plug. You know you get into that mode of thinking that some plugs only work in some places. I now use needlefish almost exclusively in the fall after a hiatus of almost twenty years I have fallen in love with them all over again. This year my biggest bass at P-Town was 47 inches long and just over forty pounds and taken on a needle.
Well thats enough for now. Seems some plugs always get re-discovered. Take seven inch Rebels for instance, I have been killing fish on them again the last three years and nobody else uses them in my surf clan. Once again, glad you enjoyed the pics, tightlines, AKA Flaptail

Everyone suffers "internet burnout" from time to time. I have. In my case, it only took me a few days to a week to get over it. In other people's cases, it took months, even a year or so.

People say things from behind a keyboard that they'd never say in person, or because the printed word has no voice inflection, it gets taken the wrong way.

Steve's a good man. He'll come back in his own due time, or he won't. There's a treasure trove of stuff here already if you use the Search. No one's forced to participate and share their experience here, and Steve has already blessed us in spades.
