I use a 4/0 Senator on a heavy 7' boat rod with 50# braid. Braided line is recommended especially if jigging. Andylynn fishes in depths of over 200 ft. You need a rod that can handle jigs and sinkers of around 20 ozs. Mono line is OK if baitfishing with around 40# test minium. Bring your teasers!

I may bring my rod and save the 7 bucks (poor month) but I'll line it up with mono... If it breaks, I guess I'll just have to rent

John, the 7000 might not give you enough power to reel up a big fish. Better off with a penn 4/0 or a 3/0. Also braid will help you hook up more.

john i agree with slipknot. the 7000 may not give you what you need to pull that monster off the bottom. if your going to use your own gear again like slipknot i recomend dacron or spectra i use spectra it works great for jiging no stretch it is a little more then dacron. . if you do use mono again use 40 to50lb test and a 80lb leader, sound heavy but dont forget your fishing recks and ledges thell cut it like butter

Exclamation ..gear on board..

..Jenn, I haven't been on the Andy Lynn before but most of the other boats that I've been on sold Hooks/sinkers...not many had jigs....actually only one! ( out of Revere ) ..so if your renting, you may want to bring a jig or purchase one from CanalRat...but let him know in advance.. so he can prepare himself.
