Magnetic rod rack

Anybody have experience with them?

For those who've seen my truck you know I'm not worried about wrecking the paint!

I'd also set it up so the rods go from the bed to the roof unlike in the photo.

I'm not worried about security.I simply need it for transportation purposes. The price is right but I don't want to waste my cash on something that don't work.

I've used them. They worked fine. I don't think I'd want to leave my rods exposed to flying debris for loan hauls, but for getting from spot to spot they work well. I always use a reel cover.

Best regards,
Roger

Thanks Roger.

I hadn't planned on using it for long trips but as you said,to get from spot to spot.I live on Aquidneck Island and rarely fish off the island.

If you were to use them,
You would want to get some clear decal to protect you're paint on you're car or truck.
Tow trucks use tag- allong lights as required by law, with magnetic set ups like those, causing lots of scratch damage
Every once in a while the lights fall off the car also!
Just a few things to consider.

I wouldn't worry about scratches, as long as you don't use them for tow truck lights. And I would not use anything between the magnet and body that would decrease the holding power of the magnets, even slightly.

Also, if it's for just one or two rods, an old trick is to lean them on the windshield and use the wiper blade laid over the rod handle to hold them down. It works surprisingly well.

Best regards,
Roger

The scratches usually happen from putting them on and taking them back off.
And if you bounce around enough, the magnets will shift causing scratches.
Just a few suggestions!

Just dont leave your rods unattended for a second. I had a simular setup last year and left a rod on attatched for a little bit when i did some fishing. Came back and my rod was stolen. They are good racks just dont leave your rods unattended for a second! Im getting one of the setups you rig up inside your SUV this year. Im taking no chances!

I remember reading about those holders they look pretty cool no locking them but functional for beach use, quick & easy to get at. I don't think they recomend long distance driving.
don't they offer different magnet size's 4-6#.

Simple design & cool loking.

Live bait sharp hooks and timing is all you need
