Gas Prices Reaching All-Time High
Gas prices are expected to go way up in the near future.
Regular (89 octane) in some places could go as high as $2.50/gallon or more!
Is this gonna put a dent in your fishing?
Major drivers of rising gas prices include:
1) Higher seasonal demand as people log more miles when the weather gets warmer.
2) India and China are hogging demand to accommodate industrial output.
3) Complex patchwork of clean air laws that vary by state which refiners have to deal with when formulating refined product.

One more thing...
Later in the season, it would also be helpful to point out where people can get the cheapest gas in their neck of the woods.

traveling for fish
between the erosion and gas prices I don't think I'll be making enough trips down cape to warrent buying a sticker for the seashore . I guess Cotuit will be my east and Newport my west this year and a lot more canal fishing

I forsee a busy summer driving back and forth to Lake Wallenpaupack. If I spring for an out of state license might be worth taking some eels. Just like here shore access is an issue.....
Do the math. In my Accord we're talking $0.0011 per mile difference between $1.89 and $2.50..........

I feel for those that live 100 miles or more from the Cape or any seashore for that matter. 21 Years ago I chose to move to the Cape because the writing was on the wall as far as real estate prices were going ( my mortgage payment is only $424.00 a month with taxes), gas lines in the 70's and 80's foretold higher demand and higher prices. I own a smAll SUV ( 2 Door Blazer S-10 HY-RYDER ZR-2, a small boat ( 14' foot Mirrocraft 1969 deep fishermen model with a 2003 18 HP Nissan electric start 2 stroke that runs two days on 6.5 galllons of reg. gas.) The canal is 11 minutes from my House, Barnstable Harbor 20 minutes, Ramp in Woods Hole to launch to fish the Elizabeths 10 minutes, Nauset 35 minutes and Race Point 55 minutes. Oh yeah, the ramp in East Falmouth to launch to fish for Albies and Bonito is 5 minutes away. The way I see it if gas goes to 2.50 a gallon I still got it #^^^^&ed!

Why even try.........

you might be saving even more gas and sticker money Flap... no beach
even less now
Nauset might not even be selling stickers due to the erosion, or limiting time of beach travel to the lower tides.... keeps washing over at Pochet, and #4, and #7 and #8..
have not heard that out of P-town yet, but from what I saw up there, well it ain't as tore up as Nauset, but it ain't rebuilding either, might not be worth getting a sticker, even if they sell 'em.... I know some local guys who swore they'd never boat fish, well, they're out looking at used boats.......... ramps are a freakin horror show now, this summer is gonna be interesting......especially if theres a glut of more newbie boat users
think parking lots, get your legs in shape, and lots of walking.

And the sinking of the dollar? How much impact does that have on the price of a barrel?
It's gonna suck this year...
