Just picked up a pack of these. Not sure if i'm feeling the black finish, but they are sharp. Dressed up a few and put them on some plugs they look good

NIB, what hooks are you using that don't rust? VMC's rust after a use or two for me. I just tie up a ton of them and replace as needed.

Would it make sense to dip the VMC siwash hooks in some sort of epoxy before they are tied to slow down the rust a little? Obviously if you catch fish, the teeth will remove the coat but I was just wondering.

True, but they're brittle and the eyes break off easily after you close 'em up

Thats true they break.i use a LARGE pair of channel locks or a vise one shot an dun.I never got one complaint on the hundreds of em i closed on tuna jigs.My guess would be if u over mangle em they will become weak an a 6,7/0 hook can be a mother to close if u don't have the right tools..I have seen em break on another guys lure one time .cost him a good bass.Everything rusts.the older hooks have a better finish.I've had to change VMC's after one night of fishin. The whole hook industry needs to take a better look at their products for the salt if u ask me.but they seem to be sellin like mad.I think they call that job security.
