Fort Adams

I took the day off and went to Newport with the wife. We like to drive out in front of Fort Adams I was concerned with what I saw. All the cement around the Nav tower has been ripped out and is now steeply sloped sand. In essence the powers that be have removed all the parking spaces for the pier fisher men. I think this is bull%$%$%$%$ another slap in the face for anyone whom wants to fish on the island. 30 years ago my brother Mike and I would strap our surf rods onto a couple vespa motor scooters. We could fish anywhere we wanted to Ocean Drive, Castle Hill, Fort Adams, Any of the beaches. We could fish in Portsmouth along the Sakonet. My Dad called us the water rats and we were. Avoer the years I have seen such bull%$%$%$%$ as parking stickers, wire fences, rich %$%$%$%$%$%$%$s, no parking signs, bad dogs anything to keep you and I off the beach or the pier. What a load of crap. Newport has gone from a cool fishing/sailing place to the beer and t-shirt %$%$%$%$hole. You can't even see or access the water form 80 percent of the harbor, I really don't know why the tourists keep comming every summer, bunch of friggin lemmings.

I am going to rejoin RISSA and give them a donation for their PAC just for old time sakes. God Help Us All.

Can't stand the place myself. Can't figure out what draws all the people there? Last time I was there I almost got arrested for photographing the mansions, from the road mind you! I told the cop that the rich folks there don't own the roads. Guess again! eessed: You can have it....

I thought Newport used to be a rundown biker town that the Navy pulled out of???

I’ve been here for eight years and it seems like a nice place to me… it has great restaurants, a ton of bars , shops for the misses (SWE for me), and lots of life.

I never had any problems fishing any of the areas you mentioned. Maybe the access isn’t as good as it used to be, but this is a systemic problem in NE - not just Newport.

“Can't figure out what draws all the people there?”

Maybe it’s the mansions you were photographing

What? This is the best time of year, there's no tourists here yet. Newport would be great if it was'nt for New York, Connecticut and Boston. You know it's getting worse every year when you start seeing more out of state plates all winter long.

This is just the beginning of the invasion. We've just about finished our ground assault on South County. Then we'll infect 'gansett. When we're done with you unsavory Newport natives, we're gonna push all of youze right into the water.

I like your impression, it definitely is that way here in Newport. Definitely not the place to visit, let alone fish. There are no fish in newport at all. The people are mean, the roads are full of potholes, the beer is warm, the air stinks, definitely not the place to come to. Better off goin to the cape........

let me guess squiddler you just came to town over the last few years or so. Another carpetbagger with no real roots to the town although you claim it as your own...right?

We Newpoters will be waiting for ya with rods drawn at the Fort. You know it's tough to squeeze through us and Fort Weatherill when we're both casting at you from either direction.
