congrats man...on the new house....
5 years is a bit rough for the interior work...."as in" the project never gets finished and might take priority over fishin @ some point , if it isn't up to par for the wife?
you have to plan on gutting each room to replace all the crappy insulation
installed in 1928 and replacing every single window...with double pane....and
depending on the size of the windows ordered ...you may have to reframe them all to match for the new rough opening. then you'll have to patch in the shingles around each one.
With the price of oil on the rise....heating costs
will
SOAR so
"think in terms on how to be cozy and warm first" with the existing structure before you jump into an addition. build the addition out on the lawn this summer....
with "sticks" ( 2x4's )(a mock structure) stuck here and there.... and pretend...its done, to see if a 16 foot bump out is adequate for your needs since every step of the new construction is the same regardless of the actual size.....
