Fisher (sp?) fly rod - Striper Talk Striped Bass Fishing, Surfcasting, Boating

A number of years back a flyrod company that is no longer in business today made some nice rods. (kind of pricey but nice) I came across one recently that is brand new in the Al tube in a tucked in a plastic sleeve. Slide it out of the dusty plastic bag, and unscrew the cap from the tube and a out comes a really nice rod. 2pc-9wt,

has a on-sale sticker on the cap of $400. I can get it for $200. It is perfect for my needs.
What do you flyrod guys think of the fisher rod made by a company this is no longer in business? It looks like a great deal to me and I realize that the breakage warrenty is N/A.

I don't know much about the construction of these but would guess it to be glass or a composite there of and of a moderate not fast action. If you whip it around a bit and it feels comfortable to you that is the most important. Most modern saltwater fly rods have some graphite and a fast action. You could try calling Scott at the Bears Den in Taunton to see what he knows about them and if the price is in line. They do sell used rods and I believe sometimes on consignment.

I've owned several Kennedy Fisher rods, both fly and surf. I think the surf sticks are more desirable than the fly rods.

If my memory serves me correctly, they were a bit soft. Is it a blue-colored blank?

Try it out before you buy. If it's brand new, $200 is about as much as I would spend on it.

i kinda remember j. kennedy fisher fly rods being on the soft side. they built a high quality blank, i've had tuna and surf rods and they were top shelf products.

It didn't say J. kennedy ...just Fisher. It feels pretty stiff to me . Stiffer then the (only) St. Croix 9 wt fly rod I own. The set up looks top shelf to me, seat, guides etc. look very nice...nothing cheap. Its that bronze Ron Arra color.
I think I am going to pull the trigger,and see if I can also get a decent large spool reel now for under 300.
