Oracle Applications

Guys - (without being too long winded) I have a background in ERP and enterprise-wide application sales....I have a sales offer from Oracle to be part of their Oracle Direct Group. It just seems to me that the whole application game is basically over now that Oracle has bought PeopleSoft/JDEdwards, and it looks like Microsoft wants to do soemthing with GreatPlains/Exapta and possibly SAP.

Do any of you computer gurus have any experience with Oracle Applications? I am asking you guys because I know I can trust my fishing buddies to be honest with me about the company (Oracle) and their products.

Thanks.......

First class products, insanely expensive and one of the best brands that can be on your resume.... Big Coin....

Otherwise, I'd rather work for Oracle than M$

The application wars are hardly over...ERP is still going and PLM is the next big thing...and Oracle is still under most of it...

My daughter worked for them for a while, writing code for add on apps. Great name to have on your resume if you're going to stay in IT. The system wars are going to go on and on for years, and Oracle will be in the thick of it.

The game is not over and there are new wars still to be won. Look for the BI (business intelligence) world to continue to heat up. I imagine some of the companys like Business Objects will be in play soon. If it meets your needs, I would not hesitate to work for Oracle.

If Ellison keeps blowing millions on failed AC campaigns and having a penis waving contest with Paul Allen over who has the largest superyacht then how is Oracle supposed to stay in business?
