Weekend storm prediction

Hi folks, seems the weekend weather forecast in south county and the cape is about to get wacked with high surf from the offshore hurricane. Here's my dilema. I've got the weekend off from work and can drive anywhere between York Maine to Point Judith to fish the surf. What would your recommendations be (without specifics) to the area I should target considering the storm brewing offshore? North shore vs. South shore? Or should I just stay home and rent a movie with the miss's? I don't imagine 10ft+ waves are desired when fishing?

If the seas are as big as they say they are going to be( which I trust is true because I just got back and its getting big and weedy now) I would either fish in estuaries or bays or..rent a movie and stay home, there is plenty of season left!

Head down to any of the local tackle shops, they will be able to help. There is a map of certain well known spots in the canal. They will give you a good start.

Read this topic on the Canal. Great post by Mike P.

I'm hooked up and ready to go, some of my best and yes most dangerous fishing, is with big swells breaking on offshore ledges. I watch them for a long time, like a surfer reading the break, slowly working closer and closer to get those casts in close. Been vertical a few times, taken a few over the bow, but hey I like the thrill rides at the parks too.

I've found that some of the best fishin is in big swells caused by off shore hurricans.

The boys from Team Ave Mariaq are gonna go check some of our Cod spots east of the bank tomorrow. I continue to look for somehting to get me concerned and am not seeing much besides the fact theat the beaches are gonna have some wicked rip tides....looks good and not rough outside...

or am I just screwed up and missing something

I swam & rode the waves at Narragansett Beach today and the swells were big and there was an unbelieveable amount of weeds in the water. I cancelled my fishing plans tonight.

During those offshores I have also seen some good fish.
But getting the good rip is hit or miss.
And there is usually a pile load of guys down there with you.
