Surf Tops -- No Hoods

This may be a stupid question, but...

What do you guys wear/do when you are wearing a Surf Top (Simms, Aquaskinz, etc.) with NO HOOD when the nice heavy downpours come?

Especially on a nice cold October/November night with big surf and cold rain -- or even in the summer with a heavy rain squall?

I can wear my hooded Gore-Tex jacket when I know its gonna rain -- but what do you do when you have the Top on and rain comes unexpectedly.

Please don't say buy a Hurricane Top - - I've spent enough money on waders & gear this year.

I just bought a Gore Tex LL Bean hat for that purpose. If I hear that there is going to be a chance of rain, I can just stuff the hat into somewhere inside my outfit and take it out and replace the cotton ball cap with it.

I've had the same problem finding something good for this situation.

I bought this really lame waterproof hat with ear flaps from REI. I would consider the Aquaskins hood if it had a small brim to keep the rain out of your eyes. I've seen some surfers with hoods with brims. You could look into that option.

I wear a Quaker Lane hat that has had so much saltwater hit it has gone from charcoal gray to almost white. In the late fall I go to my Bronco with the hood.

No boat, back in the suds.

I carry a jacket with a hood in the good weather (light goretex) . In the cold weather , i wear the heavier jacket with a hood anyway. I think you need a hood in the fall , it retains so much heat in addition to keeping you dry. I also like the hood for the heavy weather to have a little visor on it. mine is only about an inch long but it menas the water drips past my face instead of running down it.

In extreme conditions Iwear the Aquaskinz separate hood...I also love my Rampage top that has a hood built in

Mostly just a hat and I got a very special new hat for this fall...loaded with MOJO
