i swear officer, it's used for fishing
something that i never imagined happened to me on the way home from the office today. i'm sitting in my car at a stop light, and a police cruiser pulled up behind me. as i was sitting at the light, i picked up the danny body that i turned last night, and was looking over my work. i looked at the weight hole, the hook hole, and the thru-hole. i then put the plug to my lips, and blew some saw dust out of the thru hole. the whole time the cop behind me was watching, unbeknownst to me.
once the light turned green, i started to move, with the cop car behind me. i got about 1/8 of a mile, when the cop's lights come on, and i'm being pulled over. i know that i wasn't speeding, because of the amount of traffic behind me. i get out my license, registration, and insurance card, and wait for the cop to come up to my window. he does, asks for my documents, and then asks me where i'm coming from, and where i'm going to. i explain everything, he hands me my insurance card, and then asks me to get out of the car. i comply, not knowing why he's asking me to get out of the car, but i don't want to get him mad in case i did do something wrong.
at this point, another cop car pulls up, and that cop walks up to me, and searches me. i'm thinking to myself that i must match the description of someone that they are looking for, so that's why they are going thru these motions. the first cop asks me if i have any drugs in the car. i say no, and he asks for my consent to search my vehicle. i say sure, knock yourself out. the second cop stands with me, and runs my license to see if there are any warrants, etc. after about five minutes, the first cop comes to the back of my car, carrying the danny body and a small swimmer that i shaped in the summer. he asks me what these were. i told him that they are plug bodies. he asked me what a plug body was, and i told him that they were for fishing, and that after i painted them, that i would hang hooks off of it to catch stripers. he gave them to the second cop, and he looked at them, and started to laugh. the first cop had a quick pow-wow with the second cop, and they gave me my license and plugs back. the first cop explained that from where he was sitting, it looked like i had a bowl for smoking pot, and he couldn't believe that i would be examining it with him behind me. he said sorry for the inconvenience, and got back in his car. the second cop said that he fished quite a bit from his boat, but that he didn't use plugs a whole lot. he admired them for another few seconds, and then told me to have a good season, and left.
i thought that you guys would get a kick out of this. it made my day.

humphrys, what's the prize for the OTW contest? i don't get the magazine (although i've been meaning to subscribe). i'm sure that i could embelish a little bit more and then enter something worth reading. and, because you suggested it, you are entitled to 4.3762109% of my prize, or a candy bar. your choice.
