I'm convinced
That I need one more rod this year.If you could have one blank at 10' for eeling the rocks what would it be?Be advised,lami is my first choice and the rest are tied for second.

eel rod
sea dangles check out all star blanks very light. they fish better than
the lamiglass. just my opinion

Have heard only good things about Rainshadow.
I'm having a SU1087,9' 1pc.1-4oz. wrapped for me this spring.
They have a nice 10'er too.

That Rainshadow I won from M&D's is sweet. I'm not sure of the number - it was 9" with a 2oz sweet spot, yet stiffer than you would expect.

pay no attention to the rating of this rod on their website/catalog. way, way exaggerated lure rating. 1-4oz, happy at 2-3.5. you will turn fish and load a rod.
and, i will be building that rogue and i have a couple in stock.

get a danny the dino rod . best casting spin cast outfit I have ever used .
I like my 1201L and my 1084 for eeling . although the 1087 is a nice rod too .

There are tons of good eeling rod choices. I use a Loomis 1266 for eeling. My next choice would be the XRA 1205 if they are big eels. My next choice for small eels is a Sabre 967. I also use that to eel from a boat.
I think the new edition XRA 1084 is now a contender.
I also like the Lami GSB 120 1L. It has a lot more power than people recognize. the 120 1 M is an obvious choice.
At 9 feet , the allstar 1088 is very nice but as sea Wolf mentioned , they are not doing blanks anymore...too bad.
Again , lots of good eeling rods out there.

Great point, Joe! You first have to decide generally the size of eels you like to throw, or simply are available around you at a given time! No one rod is "best" for throwing eels without addressing their size/ weight. I use off-the-shelf Spinning rods, but use one of three depending (works for me):
-- Lami Arra 10': for large to outsized eels in big/ rocky water where power is needed...
--St. Croix Ben Doeer 10': Medium eels... Rocks or sandy areas ok...
--Ugly Stick 10': Believe it or not, my "ideal" rod for pitching mid- size snakes on sand beaches, including the Cape. This rod has never failed me yet, and has the perfect blend of tip- whip, and backbone, for this task! (Best fight I ever had from surf-- without the need to worry about rocks & obstructions-- was a 41lb.er from Truro on this rod, with 17 lb. mono!)  |

rain shadow 1207 light, strong all around best for your money .My first 50 lb was caught on sw 1207.Good for plugs & meed size eels.
