Does Anyone Here Agree.......
with the media that #^^^^& Chaney took too long to report his hunting incident to the media????? If you had shot your hunting partner by mistake or (given the fact we are a fishing site) hooked your buddy by mistake......would you feel compelled to contact the media to announce you had dropped your 175 pound pal by mistake????? What is the media thinking? Other than beating more out of this story than there is!!!
I don't see the big deal....accidents happen to the best of them.....just looking for more controversey......like they need to look for any more???

I assume you mean Teddy K. Got me thinking of a long account of his early problems in MV. See

shootout/ing
I think it was up to the local p.d. or landowner to annouce the shooting to the world. In Massachusetts every gunshot that is treated by a hospital/doctor's office has to be reported to the police. That may not be the case in TEXAS. Or the victim and his family. If none of them after due consideration and thought did not want to tell anyone then the white house probably should have let everyone know. The only thing that pisses me off about the whole thing is the news median acting so damn upset because no one told them. They demand to but dont have the right to know. We do maybe but they dont have the right to know a god damn thing. Thats coming from someone who has been at odds with the media. I refuse to call the shooting an accident, because it was not (everything happens for a reason). No law has been violated has it?

I think it was an accident, just an extraordinarily stupid one. Anyone with common sense, with gun experience or not, probably knows better then to shoot parallel to the ground, especially in a field where it's tough to see through the brush.
So far I think other then a few permit issues, no law has been violated.
The only issue with Cheney not reporting the incident immediately is the effect of not reporting it immediately. They are reaping what they sow if you ask me. If you're that high profile in the public's eye it's almost always better to get something like this out in the open sooner rather then later.

booze and gun's don't mix..........even if it was one beer..he should have been grounded..gun case locked up......if it was anyone else, they would have been arrested on the spot and would be awaiting trial right now....I'd also go after the ranch owner too for letting them go out after drinking at lunch....

Now thats a stretch....Thats like saying if you have a one beer you should be banned from driving your vehicle. Its all turned into a freakin witch hunt to see who can bring down and destroy Cheney the quickest. Its really getting sickening to watch. But thats the media for ya!

Agree. Haven't we all heard, or all used at one time the line: But I only had one beer?
Gimme me a break.......
Then again, Cheney could be telling the truth - he only had one beer. Just not mentioning the few shots of Jack Daniels that went along with the beer......

So you can prove he was drunk at the time? And the beer is the reason the accident happend? Nice try....

This story isn't even about the shooting anymore. Its all about the freakin media and how pissed they are. They act like it was a big cover up and it took weeks for them to find out. It was less than 24 freakin hours you media idiots! They are so making the news it makes me yak. But what do you expect when you have a liberal media who we all know hates Cheny and Bush? Keith Olberman on msnbc is the F'ing worst. All his consiperacy thoeries and picking apart everything, accusing to VP of being drunk. He's a disgrace and an embarasment. So is David Gregory of NBC, he started shouting at the WH press secretary becuase he didnt like the answers he "wanted" to hear. babies they are. If you dont beleive thier is a media bias i dont know what to tell ya! But like i said....the media is just pissed the story got broken by a dinky newspaper in Texas. Fing babies

I agree, the first responsibility is to get medecial attention, then notify the local authorities as required. At that point, in my opinion, the incident is public knowledge. Too bad for the national media if they arn't hanging around some sheriff's office in Texas.
Pete
PS Who taught that guy to shoot, into brush when you can't see clearly?

Actually I don't even know if the brush was at eye level. I would HOPE there was some otherwise shooting a guy seems even more ridiculous.

The only issue I see is why didn't the ranch owner check their hunting permits to make sure they could hunt game birds???? Seems to me it was their responsibility to oversee the permits of folks they let on their ranch to use firearms!!!

I couldn't care less if he called the press. They are parasites if you ask me.
He was however hunting without the required liscense. If anyone in Texas ever got fined or lost their right to carry for hunting illegally , he should too. He should be treated no worse nor no better than anyone else.
