Just found this , doesnt sound good

Coast Guard searching Bay for three URI students

BOSTON -- The Coast Guard is searching Narragansett Bay for three University of Rhode Island students.

The students took a row boat from a pier at URI's Narragansett Bay campus early this morning. A security guard heard yelling and screaming from the water about 4 a.m. and called the Coast Guard.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Kelly Turner said several boats and a helicopter have been searching for the students since about 5:30. They have found an oar, ball cap and sandal.

University spokeswoman Linda Acciardo referred questions to the Coast Guard.

I'll never forget the search and resuce chopper looking for that family that flipped in Mount Hope Bay a year or so ago.

Woke up to full daylight at 1:30am with all the furniture walking across the wood floors. Powerful machine.

There was a CG 40 footer or so working between the URI campus and Dutch and Jamestown this am. Looked like they were watching a couple larger fishing boats (seiners or draggers). Did not see a helo out there on the way in this morning... Hope these kids are found OK...

A mortal decision made by 3 immortal teenagers, so sad.

Make it idiot proof, and someone will make a better idiot.

I bet they wanted to paddle out to dutch island. thats a popular camping destination.

When i was about 8 or 9 i fell off a dock in the middle of winter. it was so cold that the water had a layer of slush. Luckily there was a ladder.. might have died.

Hypothermia kicks in pretty quick. Even when the water is 50+ it I believe between 1-3 hours. I hate to say it but it dosn't look good. I think with the water temp as it is right now it is less than 1 hour. People can get hypothermia in the middle of the summer, just nobody really talks about it.

With the water temps at 40 it's approximately 15 to 30 minutes tops and you're unconscious according to the chart I just looked up.

It's a reminder for us as to what can happen out there and a tragedy for friends and family of these kids.

The URI bay campus was still closed at 6 p.m. when I went down for the herring meeting. I asked the cop if they were still looking, and he said yes.

Most cops were gone by the time the meeting broke at 7. If they hadn't been found by then, I think it would be very, very tough to find 'em in the fog we're having.
