Camera case

I was showing Clammer this case I got from SWE and he thought it was a great idea.
It's waterproof and solid as a rock. I put my dig. camera in it and put it in the pocket of my drytop while in the surf, have totally submerged it and camera stayed dry. It's the Pelican case. Just figured I'd share it with you guys.

Pelican boxes are great. Waterproof. Pretty much indestructable.
I HAD one for my digital camera for about four years.
Sunglasses fit too.
Three days of ice-fishing(I may have had a beer or two over the course of the weekend) got back, unloaded the truck, and left mine on the side stairs.

Ever do something and say to yourself a day or two later, NFW, I couldn't possibly have done that?

Any opinions on a good digital camera?
And maybe a new Pelican box with a longer leash?

Pelican for waterproof.
Lowepro for ruggedness.

Smile Waterproof camera

check out the pentax optio wp. the wp stands for water proof. my daughter had one down on the gulf on the run up to katrina...it worked flawlessly. it's small enough to fie in a side pouch or even the flap pouch of a skinz bag and a dry top pouch no problem. it's good up to 6ft for 30 min so the surf splash and even multiple dunkings won't bother it. you could even swim with it out to certain rocks that i know of.....

you can also buy an underwater housing for a lot of different kinds of digital cameras. I'm thinking about getting one for my Nikon because I'm really concerned with the camera getting wet when I am taking pictures, not when it is in my pocket.

Waterproof Camera

What's the retail on the Pentax Optio WP? I had the yellow Minolta waterproof camera, got it back in 1989 or 1990. It was an excellent little camera -- took underwater photos, photos in the rain, no problem. Had it around my neck during a kayak trip last summer, fell off the yak and the camera decided to no longer be waterproof and died on the spot. It was a good 15 years of photo taking so while it was sad to see it go, I got good use out of it. I have been looking for a replacement, not very aggressively. This could be a good replacement. Is it a common camera that I can find pretty much anywhere? Thanks
