Tarpon Trip

What a weekend in the keys, not the numbers I'm used to catching on a weekend outing, but sometimes the quality does make up for a lack of quantity. Saturday I hooked 4 fish and Sunday 5, with the smallest going maybe 75 lbs and the largest over 100; but friend Drew had the big one at well over 125. Unreal that is all I can say, nothing comes close to watching a fish that large clear the water by feet only a boat length from your boat, look you in the eye and then do it 3 more times before turning the match into a long tug of war. I'm definately going back next year, might even figure a way to take a week and rent a boat.

SWEET !!!
It is the fish mecca down there.

I went there with my bro-in-law a few years ago. We did not do that kind of numbers due to weather, but hooked a couple of BIG tarpon. We even fished at night, what a freaky thrill that was!!!

Hooked on to bull shark one day too, that fight didn't last long.

I'd like to go back someday too.

good job....

Tarpon

Yes, tarpon are the world's greatest gamefish, no doubt ... nothing greater than being the only boat around with a steady stream of fish swimming by, rolling on the surface, daisy chaining ... it's an amazing sight ... they are truly magnificent creatures.

Glad you had a great time.

Fished them a lot with flies, soft plastics and bait, but did not have the great wood that is now being produced by the custom manufacturers that are on this site ... I think the big needlefish, spooks, darters and metal lips would all produce well for these fish under certain conditions, especially in the passes at night and beach fronts in the early morning ... down in the Keys you'd want to focus on the cuts and basins where they can be found daisy chaining and passing through on a regular basis, as well as the channels under the bridges.

That's awesome Bob
nothing better than fighting tarpon, they kick butt.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Ah Tarpon, one can only dream...... Nice work Bob, I am very jealous!

Slip, may I propose that the Swedish Bikini Team, fifty gallons of Chocolate pudding and a case of whipped cream might come close?

Why even try.........

Biteme and I went down to the everglades/marco island area a few times...caught jacks, tarpon, ladyfish, redfish, lemon sharks, spinner sharks, hammerhead sharks, blacktip sharks, snook, but by far the most fun was the permit (25#+ )on light tackle...40 minutes to the boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!Would be nice for tarpon on spinning gear!! Everyone of you that dream of going, should !!! Two or three guys sharing the expenses helps keep it reasonable!!

a fifty before I go!!!!!!
