I just gave my notice!
After 14 years at the same job I'm moving on. Tough decision but I think it'll be worth it. More time to fish!!! I'm a little nervous about starting over at 38. Anybody else make a similar move?

After being in constrution sense 1980 I learned it is about me and that there is no employer loyalty they just use you up and then dump you when they seem fit, so I just go do my days work and leave work at work, never talk about it at home, I take as much time as I want off and basically don't care anymore, that's probably why I have no job now, well that and poor management. Good luck with your move.

you have to...
do something that gives you real satisfaction
and is actually meaningful during your life....
before perhaps, you just landed a job....
now figure out what you "want" to do...
and you'll end up loving your new job
as for your age ....
your now "very experienced".
the answers not out -> there....
it is inside of you....waiting
so dig deep...

Tough call to make man but I applaud your balls to make the move. Your only 38 - your still a kid! Being unhappy and unappreciated really stinks. I hope whatever you find gives you that new spark and zest. Don't give up!! Best wishes.

Thanks, I feel better knowing that 38 isn't too old.
By the way, if anyone needs company fishing the canal, I'll be there 5 days a week now.

There's no better time than right now. Right now, I'm basically in tattoobob's boat. My loyality to a company was rewarded with a boot to the arse for their convenience. Wasted 24 years there. Shoulda taken care of myself first. I applaud you.

Right choice AM, like Rav said, find something that you reallly enjoy doing and you'll be a success at it. Too much of your life is spent working to be unhappy doing it.
