Had a big hit as I was setting lines on a Pink Spreader bar with a Black trailer. Had 3 out and was setting the bird when I heard a Rearrrrrr...
It was a very short loud burst. The pink bar got hit 3 more times in the next hour. I pulled it up to sharpen the hook and the Black Squid was gone...
No more hits but fished up until Big Papi (XM Radio chanel 176) hit his triple and pulled them in. Nice calm night... lots of Whales and Bait on the North side of the NW Corner...
A 25 kts ride in with the moon lighting the way and less than 1 foot seas was just the right amount of time to smoke a cigar...

PS... the whales were insane... we had them 10' off the boat at times... I was on Autopilot and the came straight at us 2-3 times... One time I pulled it in to neutral because I did not want to hit them... We saw them do it to other boats also.. There was 6-7 boats out there.

Thanks
Hey Mike (FF),
I just want to say thanks for sharing the info in your recent posts
about what has worked for you regarding patterns/colors etc.... For most of us I would guess, you only get a few shots to get out there and be successful. It wasn't in the cards today but atleast we know we were not just wasting our time with the wrong gear and equiptment. Thanks again for being willing to share.

boat
I would love to Mike, believe me! Currently I am following in your
footsteps though as I sold my boat last month in order to get something bigger. In the past week, I was out with Moses on Friday, a boat named Hook'em Two on Tuesday and my friend George's boat, Big Game yesterday.
I think you are on to something here as I was able to fish from the cape to the north shore with ease, targeting multiple species! Next Saturday I will fish with Moses again in the FLW. It has me re-thinking if I need another boat or not?? My wife and kids love to boat, fish, swim, snorkel, dive etc... so I am sure I will not be allowed to continue this next season. Once I do get something bigger, you will be the first person I call!
