Shirts - Will You Buy Me?

OK, here is the deal. On this artwork, which I will show in a few posts, I have literally well in excess of 150 (real likely over 200) hours of my time editing artwork since December 05. I am not an art genius or a savant so I had to go with my limited tools. But like S-B, I really can't look at it as an hourly wage or I'd get sick...

After starting and stalling on several T-Shirt designs, some by me and some by members here, I felt I at least owed it to all of you to do something truly special and celebrate one of the core parts of S-B that make this community tick like the well oiled and occasionally inebriated community we are. I chose the Plug Building community of S-B as I wanted to celebrate a group of people that the significant majority of us are in awe with. The only problem was that I ran out of canvass and was only able to get 20 something plugs on this shirt as there are NUMEROUS other deserving plug builders that should be by all rights on this shirt as well. This shirt will feature some of their work - I truly wish I could have included more - and their art will be predominantly displayed on the back of the shirt with a somewhat different, mildly artsy S-B logo on the front. I asked everyone on this shirt for their permission to do this though most I did not tell what I needed their permission for, other than it was a "project". The theme is loooosely based on a concert T-shirt.

Back in February I also had a few sponsors contribute to seed this shirt to help get it off the ground and they are listed on the shirt as well as sponsoring this shirt as they helped me get this off the ground.

For prices we are looking at roughly $18-19 for M-XL, 19-20 for XXL, and 20-21 for XXXL as the prices run $2 & $3 more per shirt for XXL & XXXL respectively.

The shirts will be a 100% 6.1 ounce heavy Cotton short sleeve shirt (they said better than Hanes quality). I looked at the shirts and they are better than 90% of the fishing shirts I have gotten. Much similar to a Guy Harvey. Have not decided on a pocket or not though that would probably add 50 cents or so, would need to find out. And shipping I have not figured out (and not sure if Clammer wan't that job - in fact I think he'll keel over when one actually gets printed .

Base color of the shirt will probably be either Stone Blue, Khaki, or Sand.

The minimum I can order at this time is 150 shirts because of the major artwork going onto it. The screen people I talked to today and I've talked to several shops - state it will use as many colors as they can put on a shirt, 13-14 on the back alone. It looks like I will be using the Bomba suggestion of East Coast Screen Printing (quite an operation). In fact these guys do the shirts for Gibbs so those that have their shirts can tell me what they think.

So, I will show you the artwork to go on this in a short bit and tell me if you will commit to these shirts before I lay out the couple grand to make this happen. S-B will make some money on these, probably around $5 each, as it is an expensive shirt. I will work up a real good deal for the guys whose plugs are on the shirts.

im kinda with RR on this one in that it ,looks like a dedication to the great plug builders on this site. (which is fine if thats what you want).

I may have missed it but this is a s-b shirt, not a thank you to the sponsers/plug builders shirt right?

I will buy 1 or 2 to support s-b. but it doesnt look like the SHIRT is supporting s-b.

i'd personally like something that isnt so "loud". If the majority of people on here use the sponser plugs than you will probably do real well with the shirt. I suspect the farther north you go, the interest will drop off a bit.

Alot of times great statments are made with the simplest of designs. look at apple... white on white with and apple and chunk bitten out. I personally am not a fan of apple but you know the logo. linux have a dopey looking penguin. not everyone knows what it is but if you are in the industry you do. Same can apply here I imagine...

Not trying to step on creative toes... and, after 200 hrs of work put in, im sure its hard not to take constructive criticism personally.

Great plug shirt though! Whats the front look like?

Put the S-B logo with the flag on the front and keep the back as is. It looks great John. I am sure it took some effort. I will take a few as well. Start a pre-order to cover some of the expenses.

If the design is really that complex it had better cost a mint or it's not going to look good!

John, perhaps make two. One with a simple logo and one with your design.

Yes, I will buy one of this design, and will probably buy subsequent design shirts, assuming they still help keep the lights on.

Some make this seem like an end all prom dress decision........print 'em and they will sell, just watch.

i agree its kind of silly to be arguing about the design of a shirt. i do however think it shows how much this community cares about s-b

I think the main concern is what being represented. I want to wear a shirt that repsents s-b, not AH or HABS etc etc... (no offense to the sponsers) I kind of think its the sponsors jobs to sell their own duds.

This time John, I don't think anyone will fault you for being selfish in your design to being about your creation... that we all truly appreciate.

again, i'll 1 or 2 of whatever to keep the lights on!

Don't think anyone is arguing...aside from Skip who just thinks he'll be more credible in the political threads if he actually is wearing in the flag

Some good feedback, it's only because we care

Have to agree with slip 100%..if I wanted a t shirt with a bumper sticker on it, I'd just go buy a plain white one and glue a sb bumper sticker to it.

My opion is this, what is this shirt for?? It looks like a plug shirt and does not represent the SB site.
To much going on, to busy!!

I would not buy it, sorry, I know you did a lot of work John, but its just not something I think the site need.

Something Clean Cut that shows the site is all that is needed.

You know that I am a member of the Wellcraft site and we have all kinds of years and styles of V20's on the board.

We had shirts done by a member and went with the first V20 made for the shirt which happens to be a Cuddy.

This is the first year shirt:

This is the 2nd year shirt

I think it would be nice with the S-B like the bumper sticker over the Left chest.

And a nice bass on the back with the SB.Com address at the bottom.

This will be great representation for the site, and it is a fishing site first and a rod building, plug building, boating site 2nd.

Ok I shut up now, I hope no one is offeneded! Just sugesting.

If this shirt is for something else other then for the whole site, and you are making it a plugfest thing then this is fine.

Why is everyone so uptite over a t-shirt. It says S-B on the front and back and it supports the site bottom line. S-B is alright for the sticker not a $20 t-shirt. It seems like 5-6 people complaining about it and no one else. As long as it is for the benefit of this Site why even complain. 5 pages of whaaa it is only plugs is ridiculous. Back to my beer.
