7000I HSN help

OK I bought a 7000I HSN, I bought the reel a few weeks ago as my 7500BG broke down and needed some repairs.

Well for some reason when I turn the handle while jigging it feels like the spool locks up on me probably due to the frame twisting and hitting the spool.

My question is, what can I do to fix it? I have not caught any big fish with it yet (and even the canal schoolies stop the reel) but if the reel is catching the spool when jigging and catching small fish there is no way I will be able to bring in a big fish.

BTW that reel is VERY nice, it is not as fast as the 7500 but still a great reel for the price!

Check to see if all of the frame screws are tight--that's the only reason I could see for schoolies causing that frame to flex. But it sounds to me like you're about to get bit on the ass by the infamous two piece pinion gear getting ready to become two separate pieces.

Sounds like the pinion gear has broken. That was a problem with the early ones off the line.
I suggest you take the reel to Mike at M&D. Have him work it over with new gears and smoothee drag washers. Once souped up it is a damn fine reel. I have one that i use for pluggin and love it. Only problem is capacity. Not a big one because you bought it for the narrow spool.
If for some reason you cannot get to M&D PM me and I will filll you in on servicing the reel.

This is the new 7000 I HSN not the gold HSN piece of $hit.

I tightened all of the screws on the reel with the same results.

I bought it from M&Ds a few weeks ago so I will bring it in but I figured there was something stupid I was doing.

Anyone know M&Ds hours as I believe they are closed for the season.
