The one thing that this will remind everyone is the fact that most boats out there do have weapons, mostly shotguns, aboard and it only takes one enraged jerk to make a bad judgement and take someones life. Though he would have had to get alot closer to do it with a scatter gun. Just keep that in mind when approaching a boat offshore that you don't know.

I keep a 9mm on board, but if some idiot pulls out a shotgun, I'm gunning the throttle and getting out of range. The 9mm is there in case I get mugged at the ramp at 3am, not playing pirate with some dirtbag. I always worry about what the coasties will do if they stop me, everything is legal, but in this part of the country many people think gun owners are criminals. That captain is an example of why many people hate gun owners.
