"A Day That Will Live In Infamy!"

Lest we forget the Sunday morning, December 7, 1941. Many American lives lost at Pearl Harbor and surrounding islands as the Japanese attacked. Ushering the United States into World War II. Take a moment and think about it.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

WOW! I think the surviving veterans from Pearl Harbor are correct when they say people are forgetting the events of Pearl Harbor and what it represented! The last couple of generations probably don't even know anything about it....and I think that is sad!

our generation knows about it and we respect and are thankful for those whose lives were lost for this great country. but some of us don't feel the need to post a thread to validate our recognition of every monumental day in history every time one comes around.

this is a fishing site after all...

Whats funny...or not so funny is if you quiz 100 folks under 25 about Pearl Harbor.....I bet less than 50% of them can tell you where it is let alone which island it is on! That goes for all of Americas history for that matter!

Sorry....I have gone off topic!

I can, Im on it as we speak. Haven't really seen much memorial services or anything of that sort around campus which is pretty sad but it is still early.

I have also heard that a lot of the Arizona Survivors have requested that when their time comes they have wanted to have their ashes scattered at the Arizona.

I went to the memorial on my honeymoon last year, it was a VERY moving and chilling experience. BigFish, you are correct, there are still oil slicks in the water from the ship. To tell you the truth, we only had one day and night schuduled in Honalulu during our whole trip and the main reason we went to Honalulu was to see pearl harbor. I'm in my late twenties, but it was still a very important thing for me because my father is a history teacher and always ingrained the importance of history in us. Plus, if I didn't go he would have killed me!
