Suzuki 2004 140 HP 4-Stroke
I'm talking to someone selling a 2004 McKee 196 CC, with the above motor on it, which unfortunately has no extended transferrable warranty. Apparently, the boat has been used primarily in fresh water, all service is current and no issues reported. Anyone have any idea if this motor is good, bad or a lemon?
Curious what people think a really motivated seller, could almost sense a sense of deperation due to the move away from the coast to the great lakes region, would take on a boat listed on the internet for $22,000? Assuming a sea-trial and outboard check out, the boat looks great and has all the options I want, thinking that offering 20% below the listed price might be a good starting point.
Could be a sea trial and early great lakes smallmouth bass trip might be in order .
Tight lines.

I've hear good things about that motor, even though I personally am not that fond of Suzukis. That one is very popular and it's stingy on gas too. What the hell, try to lowball it, ya never know.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

B-Assman has one on his Scout and it seems very nice. AFIK, he has had zero problems. May be a 2003 or 2004, can't remember. it is nice and quiet and sips gas.
i would even go lower and offer 15K, and hope to settle around 17.5 or 18K.
Good luck
Zac

I know a few with them on 20 seacrafts and the owners LOVE them.
Viking Marine used to carry the Suzukis and Scott really raved about that motor....

I care for 8 Zuk's and 2 EvinZuk's 140's. Lowest number of recall's on any engine made... Give them clean gas and change the oil and you will have a great engine for a long time... The oil change is a little PIA... you ahve to remove the right lower cowling to get the filter off. You have to pull the boat or you will spill oil in the water.

Apparently they were mistaken, the boat was an 04, but the motor was an 03, does that affect any feedback?
Thanks.

I have a 2002 140 on a 210CC Triumph, I have over 500 hours with zero problems. Great on gas and very very quiet.

That engine has a very very low maintainance record. In other words it is reliable and I would have no problems putting one on my boat. I have been on several boats with that engine and was impressed in its quietness and fuel burn..
