Bottle Darters
Are these any good? I'm not familiar with north bar tackle. I really want some bottle darters. Wish I could have scored some Mac ones before he hung it up.

Thanks. Is northbar tackle the same as "Larry's Lures" or is that a different Larry?

I have some of those, can anyone explain why I would use one instead of a bottle or a darter?

Sooner or later you're going to realize just as I did that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path. - Morpheus

That's a good question. I've seen alot of Gibbs bottles shaved down into a bottle darter. Why do they do that?

How many metal lip swimmers do you fish?Just a different action and shape works well when fished right just like any other plug.Fish it and see for yourself.

It's not the same Larry as Larry's Lures. If you fish a lot of darters or bottles and want to try something different, this is it. I got some about a month or so ago and when I swam them was really impressed. They have a similar swimming action to a bottle plug, but will slide out like a darter. I've heard a lot of good things about them and look foward to fishing them this year. I've even fished next to the creator and watch him pick off fish on nights when a regular darter wasn't getting it done. Needless to say I'm buying more when they're available

I was in the midst of making my first batch of these or something similar when this thread started. Tested them in the river this afternoon. Swam great about like a SS darter and a 37" Pike thought so too. Usually the river is solid this time of year and until this year I had an indoor test facility at the college I worked at. Just another advantage of not working there.

not to poo on this maker's plug,,but in the late 50's , stan gibbs first bottle darter was as you see it in the pic [3 plug's]posted above and widely used at montauk..then the second shape was a bottle with a bit more of an upper lip. then to the full shape that commonly seen today.I beleive someone picked up on this plug and ran with it...if I could pull the pic's of stan's templete out of this book and post them,,you could see for yourself.

I'm as bad with pic's as you are, but I'll give it a shot...beware the glare.
