Todd Helton at 1B batting 2nd?
What do you think the Sox should give up to get Todd Shelton?
DelCarmen, Hansen, Ellsbury have all been mentioned, as well as Lowell and Freddy Kruger.
The Rockies would have to eat half the $90M he's owed ove rthe next 6 years, and he does have some back issues.
I don't see why they would not deal any of the above...

Freddy Kruger eh? OH you mean.... Tavarez...
I don;t know what I think of Helton.... hasn;t he sucked the last few years...? If he sucks in Colorado he'll Blow here in Boston and in he AL. I'll have to look at his stats but I'm not too high on him right now.

ESPN says the deal starts with Lowell and Tavarez, plus Hansen and/or Delcarmen. Absolutely ridiculous. I don't think I'd trade Lowell straight up for Helton, never mind throwing in all that pitching.

Fox sports says Hansen + 2 prospects and Rockies eating 50% of Helton's contract. Sox would then trade Lowell (1 year leftat $9M) to SD for relief. All conjecture at this point.
I'd rather have performers vs potential. Gold Glove 1b w/ .333 BA. I acknowledge Larry Anderson for Bagwell. I prefer to look at Pavano and Armas Jr for Pedro.
Best case- Helton becomes 04 Helton. Hansen becomes Schiraldi.
Worst case - Helton becomes Javy Lopez/. Hansen becomes what? Meredith?
I'm gonna go get more Kool-Aid.

Wow, I had no idea the Rockies wanted option "E. All of the above". Good to walk away from that one. I think the PR pressure got to their owner.

Being a NL guy I have watched Todd helton play since he came up..
This guy is the real deal..
He can flat out play..
He can Hit with Manny any day without the headaches..
look at the numbers..
He has a much better walk to SO ratio also..
Missed 17,an 18 games last 2 yrs..
Add him to a winning enviroment an I bet his numbers go up..
Playin for pride only in Colorado
At 33 yrs old i would bet he has a few more good yrs left in him.
16 mil sounds like alot but the salary numbers are out of control this yr..

The Sox need to turn their focus on signing Shilling to an open end contract extension. Pay him to play in Boston until he walks away from the game.

when will they learn that pitching is worth way more than hitting.
we cant get to the playoffs without pitching.... did we forget about 06 already.? i still think delcarmen and hansen will turn into some hefty players in the next couple years.
