Ogunquit, ME fishing?

Well, here's the story:

My fiance will be attending a coference at The Cliff House in Ogunquit, ME next weekend, and I'm able to tag along for all the free eats and whatnot. However, I need to kill some time while she's busy in the mornings. Considering the resort is perched upon a rocky shoreline, I can't think of a better way to kill a few hours than to bring my trusty pole and tackle along.

Does anyone have any experience fishing this area? I'll probably end up chunking macks right by the resort, but if there's somewhere else nearby that's better, I'd highly consider it.

Thanks.

Hi Don. First I have to get something off my chest. The woman who owns the Cliff House always advertises herself as being in Ogunquit. She's in York but keeps an Ogunquit PO box. She recently sued Ogunquit because she wanted to use our sewer system. She only won because two corrupt politicians in Ogunquit had cut a deal to let her do it. When the rest of the town heard about it, they recalled the two politicians, but it was too late to undo the agreement.

Now to fishing. I've never heard of anyone fishing the rocks at the Cliff House. It wouldn't surprise me if security wouldn't let you anyway, as it would tarnish the image of the place. The few times I've walked out to the rocky area, you couldn't get too far for fear of being swept in. It's mean out there. Instead, try going a mile or so north along Route 1A (the same road as the Cliff House). There are a few small rocky beaches and room to park on the shoulder. If that doesn't work, you're only a few miles from Ogunquit Beach which is my home turf. Fishing has been good. If you want to head south a few miles, the Nubble is also a good area.

There's a fly shop up there on the main drag. Stop in and ask. they gave me good info when I was up there. Also try "LongSand" beach (I think thats the name. Mackeral chunks. If you are lucky , Bill B will chime in.
