Beautiful fish, but I'd feel better knowing it was still swimming out there. Sounded like the guy who caught it would have as well, but the guy with the boat got caught up in the glory of it all.

David knows where the big ones swim.

Heard about it the next morning but didn't want to say anything. There are a few more left out there.

Got bait?

i feel the same way. i woulda loved to kno it was still swimmin out there too. but i guess theres two ways to look at it. 1. wat would u do if that was u that caught it (think veryyyyy hard on that one and you goes for everyone) and 2. a fish of that size has got to be in the 20 yr. old range and is probably on final few seasons. but ure right, big bass spawn more eggs than there 30 pound girlfriends so its def a tough call.

You guys crack me up. I doubt any of you would release a 60.

Second, I think these big old fish don't have has many ripe eggs as you think. I would rather have a spawning mass of lots of 20-30#ers then rely on a few old fish with stale eggs.

Just like a 20 year old women is better to bear children then a 60 year old grandma. Fish are the same. Older fish have more eggs but many are dead. If you have ever looked at the eggs of a 50+ # fish you will see that most of them are not the vibrant pink/orange color of the 20#ers...they are more brown. Most of them are dead. Nothing wrong with taking a big fish IMO. She did her duty.

Personally, While I release a lot of fish, a personal best stays with me.

Besides...the comm guys would have kept it after first weighing it in for the striper cup.

If you caught a 80#er would you release it? Hell no! Don't be a hypocrite.

Across the 60lb barrier indeed qualifies that fish to be called a slob
