First Post> First questions

I have been an unregistered lurking article vulture for the last few days, so I decided to finally sign up. Great info and great advice.

I have been making bi-weekly trips down to the canal for the last three summers, and have fallen head over heels for Stripers!!

I want to start surfcasting beaches this summer, and was wondering if anyone has any good tips for beaches close to the canal, or on the mainland side.

How is Scusset beach? It is just close enough that I can spend the nights of this summer there and I would love any advice.

Thanks,
JON

Welcome to S-B

I would suggest OTW's Surfcaster's guide to Cape Cod for starters (and the Rhode Island guide should you trade sand for rocks)... Good information to get you started...

Welcome to the site. I've been registered for quite a while and check out the posts, but don't respond. Lot's of knowledgeable fishermen/women here. Your best bet for finding locations is to just put in your time, read up in books and OTW magazine, and spend some money in tackle shops. Get to know the guys working in the shops, and they'll feed you some tips. They want you to keep coming back. I've been doing this for years, and find new spots every year just by checking maps and charts of areas that look fishy.

Welcome

If you really want to drive yourself crazy finding spots, check out google earth. You'll find a ton of good info here once you learn to read thru all the bluster and BS. Ask anything and sooner or later someone will answer usually with a PM if its a special spot . Good luck , there are fish all over the place down here.
