Middleborough
56 % to 44 % against, wow. It going to be built there regardless. Town has no say legally. Once the tribe finishes buying the land they want and submits the entire parcel as thiers to the feds it becomes sovereign indian land. Middleborough was an area in the 1600 and 1700's that supported the tribe prior to, during and after the white man came. To my way of thinking that is why I believe the casino is going to be built there. It is the heart/center of what was the ancestral lands.

Living just 3 miles away I want nothing to do with a casino in a very congested area already. I pray this does not go thru. My town will be greatly effected and we will not get anything for the added congestion and rat race. The rural nature of the area will be ruined forever. I just returned from Vegas and see no reason why I would want one so close to me. Doesn't offer a damn thing as far as am concerned. Why didn't they choose south middleboro where there is plenty of open space, north middleboro is too congested now. We waited all this time for 44 to go all the way to rt. 3 and now it will be too crowed to use. Sorry but I am so against this.

Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!
Believe all that BULL where did you get that from. Every town is saying traffic with there hands out looking for $$$$$. I have over 200 trips to Casinos and resorts here, 2000 if you take my time in RENO Nevada never any traffic, right to the doors there designed to get you in and out quick. Ive never waited at the dog track every town is useing traffic and infastructure as a way to get in on it. by the way how much does Bridgewater give Middleboro for that massive prison complex next door. If someone escapes into Middleboro who has to respond? Another thing how come they didnt have a town meeting for X-mas tree shops? When there locating there whole headquaters in the town Hmmm, This resort is going to be a booming business to the whole State and especialy Middleboro there coming anyway watch!!! Id make sure my town got theres before its too late. Rural nature Middleboro wont have that very long anyway Raynham used to be rural my landlord showed me pics of 44 when his Dad bought this property he was the only one here it was all woods there running out of room here, next stop Middleboro that where the land is.

Obviously your business will benefit. Good for you if it goes thru but I have nothing to gain from the rat race that will ensue so I want nothing to do with it. If I had a vote I would vote no way. How can you say that there will be no congestion when they claim this will be the largest casino in the world, 2 golf course's, water park, 2000 room hotel, concert venues. Yeah no congestion. You couldn't even drive down the strip in Vegas it took an hour to go a mile or 2. I t was ridiculous. It was total gridlock every time we went there. Ever try to get thru the middleboro rotary the last few years. Ever try to get to Taunton on 44. Hey maybe they will put it in Raynham, that is at least a little further away from me and you can enjoy all the open roads in your town. Your claim it is coming is probably right so I guess I am in the minority but I always root for the underdog. If they chose south middleboro I probably would not have had too much of a problem with it but off of 44 at that location is crazy IMO.

I don't think traffic will be any worse in the surrounding towns than when King Richards fair is in town. And yes I have lived in gambling towns.
As far as old town charm and that kind of stuff goes; well it is 2007 and this is MASS. Most towns are running budget deficits now and that isn't going to change in the forseeable future. I believe this casino will help Middleboro.

I see both sides of the argument, I have 2 young kids and if lived in Middleboro, I'd try and move. On the flip you see a town like Stoneham almost cut all sports/music because of no funds, hopefully Middleboro would never face this with the new $$ a casino will bring. But with high roller gambling comes, drugs, hookers and violence, agreed they're their now, but the numbers will surely go up.

I'm neither for or against the casino in Middleboro, but it doesn't actually create 7,000 jobs. It provides work for the people who build it, then takes the employees who work for other local companies and hires them for positions at the casino. There are very few unemployed workers who would get jobs at a casino. Most of the unemployed people in Massachusetts choose not to work, or are not employable for one reason or another. The people who get hired will be employed persons who come from other local businesses. That means that the local business owners will either have to hire the dregs of humanity, or run short-handed. This will hurt consumers who live in the area, because the already below average customer service they receive will only get worse. Has anyone tried to get help at big home improvement stores recently? Good luck finding someone to help, and better luck finding someone who knows anything. I have no dog in this fight, so I don't really care whether it is built or not. In fact, I would probably go once a year. But I do like being able to travel down 495 to the Cape late at night without having to watch out for a bunch of drunk drivers.

NH Resident.
Voted YES!
I won't and can't say anything to any of you guys that are for or against having a Casino in your town.
It's your State, not Mine.
My Wife and I have spent many times in Vegas, even got married there. We have also spent lots of time in Conn.
It benefits us so why wouldn't I say Yes.
I will tell you this, I wish NH would get a clue and open a Casino.
