9 foot surf rod, whats the best you know of?

I am in need of a 9' surf rod for lures in the 1-3 or 4 oz range. I want plenty of power in the butt for the occasions when I hook up with a really big striper. Actually the lures I will be using are jigs in the 1 to 2 oz range, sting silvers and 1 to 2.5 oz Hopkins.
I want a really great rod! Not interested in longer rods (I have them).
Something I almost forgot, I want this rod to be as light as possible, so only Graphite, no composite type rods.
Can you guys help??

The best bang for the buck would be based on a 1088/1089 Batson Rainshadow. These blanks can be custom built for you and are very good all-around rods without spending Loomis or Lami money...

IMO - the 1088 is real comortable from 1-2.5 and the 1089 seems best from 2-4 ounces...

Do a search on "Batson" or 1088 for other comments on these...

I have a few of them and while a Lami XRA 1083 or Loomis would be very sweet, the Batson is pretty good for the money...

For 9 footers , the "best" rod to 2.5 OZ is probably the Ron Arra xra 1083. Its available factory or custom. For a little heavier rod , You could get one custom made on a 1081m blank.

There are plenty more rods at lower prices which are good.

Its really hard to zero in here. You list 1OZ to up to 4 OZ but then list lures to only 2.5 OZ.

Strong butt for bigger stripers.......I think you'd like a rod built on a 1081M.
