Smile yet another personal best

after a solid morning of 18 - 24" inch fish on a super strike bullet the sun came up and the fishing slowed, ran through the bag trying to find the right offering, a few fish still hitting the surface, went with the 2 3/8 oz super strike popper in blue over silver, swimming it nice and slow so it had that nice little wobble leaving a wake on the surface and every now and then giving it a little pop to make a splash. the hit comes and right away i know its a better fish and after a nice little battle she's at my feet, 37", 20#, my personal best from shore or boat! i just like to thank all the members on this board for helping to educate me and making me a better angler, without the advice i've gleaned from these pages i'd still be stuck in micro-bass land. thanks s-b.com!!!!

Outstanding...and you still have a couple more months to beat it.

yeah, there were a couple of other guys in the same area as myself and the bullet and the popper were getting out way past where they were reaching. other than throwing a tin there was nothing else in my bag that would have gotten me out to where that fish was. last season i was questioning the usefulness of a sinking popper, but now i get it.

Plankton,

Nice job and congratulations on the fish. I picked one of those SS's a few months ago and they do work well. Hooks could be a little nicer, but they sure do fly and seem pretty rugged.

Also a nice job of having a conversation with the other-half.

thanks. i swapped out the hooks before i even fished it, vmc 4x treble and heavy duty split ring on the front and siwash on the back. i have no faith in those cut mustad trebles, take a pair of pliers and apply just a little tourque on them and it's shocking how easily they break.
