Well, the Fishermen have landed on "The Rock".
Departed New Bedford on the stroke of 6 PM and 38 minutes later they were walking on hallowed ground!
After a great meal of Shepards Pie, no shepards in this bunch, we had the privelege of introducing the Sow and Pigs to John and a few of the "crew".
Out at about 730 PM and back in around 1145.
Great Night of Fishing. Too Bad the Fish didn't cooperate and make it a good night of catching!
Had a couple three fish on and gone. Boated one Blue Fish that died of a massive headache and had a fish break the 60 pound backing. There is one fat Mama Bass swimming around with a mighty sore jaw. She probably has rid herself of the Plug, Leader, Wire and some backing already. They don't get that big by being dumb!
Noticed several "lights along the shore" so I hope those beach fisherman did better than we did!
That's all to report at this time.

Billy,
Looks like you got a new fan...
Sorry I haven't posted in a while guys, been in the business of buying a house. After a full time yearlong search, we found the place!!!
Now in the business of financing it.
Anyhow, we close in five weeks. In the meantime my wife won a trip to Aruba on the radio, so we go there, pack the apartment, and move all between now and mid October.
This means no fishing for me.
Talk to everybody in November (maybe).
Hope everybody did good .
Later,
Rick

Well, I just got back, and happened upon this post. John R got the biggest, 41" 27lbs, Goose in second (he had 3 fish) with a 42" 22lb, me I got a 35 1/2" 15.8 lb on one of my own creations. John has a pic of it. I know that Chris L got a couple of fish, most fish went to either Clammer or Red. Red lost a nice fish on a polaris popper I made, he lost that as well Ross, and Joe Angler, had a skunk, not for a lack of effort though. Those 2 guys fished hard, and covered some water. On sat I was awoken at 230am by the sounds of hungry coyotes scoring some dinner. It was an awsome time thanks again Greg.
Chet it was a pleasure meeting you. You are a nice guy with alot of information, next time I will pick your brain a week early to get the inside secrets.
Here is a pic of Gooses, large:

what can i say... it was so much better than the last time we were there(for some atleast). We couldn't have asked for better weather. i think we (the gang) are starting to run out of places that are not productive, i'm sure i will find a couple of more though.
Greg, all i can say is thank-you, i had a wonderful time again. i'm sorry about the snoring. are you sure it was me?
Chet, i want to thank you too. you have a really sweet boat and an even better sense of bass. Some of those stories would make a great book.
the rest of you guys, it's a reel pleasure to fish with ya. i just can't get over how smooth this whole weekend went.
thanks again greg.

GB - Again, thanks for an other fantastic step back in time to the fishy place. Again, we all had a blast and I think all efforts were made to get some nice fish and see if Clammer would pee his pants from laughing. We were successfull on one, possibly both counts .
As a starter to the whole event, Red made a large Stripah out of wood to be mounted in the house to comemorate the Cutty outings for us S-B guys and then it was time to fish
Chet, thank you for the glimpse into the world of the Cutty Bassman. It was an honor to hear some of the stories and what makes a few things out your way tick. It was also an event to watch a master at the helm. The only thing is that next time, I will check my own drags thank you very much , hehehe.... And that boat is a work of art
Yep, second trip to Cutty and both times I only had one fish but it was the biggest each time - I can deal with that. They don't even need to be the biggest but as long as I get one decent fish, I'm happy from the fishing aspect. The commaraderie of fishing with friends was really what made it a blast...
GB - The man exudes fishing luck at the cost of s#^^^^^&g it out from others (OK, so there is some skill involved)
Clammer & Bloo – Definitely the funniest two guys you can place side to side
Specialist – glad you are finding some sweet results with your plugs – that fish might have been only half the size of your biggest this year, but it was the best caught on something you’ve made – wait ‘til you get the satisfaction of a really large fish on a plug you made on a rod you’ve built. (I was happy on catching that fish on a rod I built on an eel that I raised since he was a tiny elver…)
Goose & Red, toss up for the hard charger of the weekend. Red now even has a locale named after him, Bob’s Point, over by the Can-O-Whopp-Ass channel. He pack mules 47#s of gear a long ways for his fish. Goose just followed his instincts and found the best concentration of fish, came back to let us know, and brought several back to the other side of the island to share the fish he found
Chris – I thought last time we probably close in the loud snoring, no way dude, you are by far the loudest….
I’ll throw up a couple pics too as I develop them…

This is the best bass I caught this weekend she is 36" and will hang at the Cuttyhunk S-B Bass club. Thanks Red for the great gift and idea. We will start to add small plaques with the name of the big fish catcher each outing starting next time John

Awesome weekend again. Thanks to all who contributed, esp. GB!
Got skunked, but didn't hurt too bad. Humor had at everyone's expense. If you get to come to one of these, you'd better have a thick skin!!!!
Now if clammer hadn't organized a Zodiac party complete with fireworks, who knows how many fish we would have had Sat night!!!!
Again, thanks to all for a great time. (I did hook up a barge tho...)
That barge also cost me a rod tip guide. I got one and epoxied it as soon as I got home and crashed....only to be woken by Mom, with the news that she had driven in the garage without looking. Yup, my Saltheart Allstar 1265 is now a 3 piece... Shipping to Saltheart today, but am out of the game until I borrow a surf rod and get analysis from SH. I think it's a goner, or a short rod at best. But the reel survived, and I will not without a 1265, so by next year I'll be ready.
Any surfrods out there to lend till we decide what to do about my #1 weapon???
Ross

Sorry to hear about your rod!
That's gotta hurt!... especially this time of year!
I was just talking with Saltheart about having a similar rod built!
Sounds like the Cutty run was a great time for you nonetheless!
Maybe the next leg will fare better for you!
If I make the list, I'll be the one to take the brunt of the jokes!
Sounds like the crew is way more experienced than I!!!
