Redoing a 532 Harnell

Back in the late 60s a legend of a striper fisherman and rod builder asked me if I would like to have a rod made. Everyone wanted one, but he picked who he would build one for...Anyway, He built me a great rod out of a 532 Harnell blank...I now need to redo the guides and am having trouble finding the Mildrum guides he used...So, question one is...Does anyone know where I can find them? And question two is, he coated the wrap with lacquer..I would like to bring it back to original...Would you do that, or is there a flex coat that won't stand out so much...I haven't built a rod in quite awhile so I'm not so sure where the craft is at...Thanks...Lou

you can still get rod varnish made by Gudebrod, you will need multi-coats but not hard. there still are all metal guides being made. Go to Rodbuilding.org ,left side is the suppliers list check out some of those
