i like my bigfish 1 3/4ths. so far its been my fav pencil and favorite popper of any sort.
i hate to play scrooge.. but this is the third different question thread of yours in like half hour. and i notice you are new. it's gonna get messy. try posting more than one question in a thread. it works out better and keeps the board from getting cluttered.. plus alot of stuff you are looking for can be found in the FAQ section... here > http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripert...splay.php?f=33
lots of great info there... and if ya cant find it there try out the search... i use it a ton.
welcome a board and merry christmas.

YOZURI SURFACE CRUISER in 2 oz. and 3.5 oz. work well/
BigFish and PlugCaster also are very nice. I'm sure Afterhours pencils work well but I have not had an opportunity to fish the one I have yet.
Size depends alot on where you are fishing and what the conditions based on my experience(or lack of).

If it is striped bass you are after, do yourself a favor and get some by the guy who invented them. Older Gibbs pencils are as close to a perfect lure as has ever been built.

OK, but first
Where do you fish?
what size and model rod?
what reel?
what line?
if you can toss 3-1/2 oz or so
go with Gibbs maybe the canal specials they are great
Youzuri's as was mentioned
if you can find them, Habs or Macs
NIB makes an awesome Pencil but he doesn't sell them, too bad

I recommend my BigFish Bait Co. pencil in 1 3/4 ounce size....just right for your setup! In fact you could go down to my 1 ounce size or up to the 2.5 ounce size with no trouble! Check out my website......feel free to ask any questions of me.....glad to help!

I did real well with them in the fall w/ a 9ft. setup w/ 15 lb. test for schoolies and some bigger girls. Very versatile and killer action. The Gibbs are also very good, might suggest switching out the hooks though. Nothing like seeing a bass hit a pencil at sun up!

go with 1 3/4 bigfish pencils, Afterhours small needle fish and a salty bugger small mini swimmer or a tattoo 1 ounce swimmer.

Al Gags' Sea Specials (Canal special style).
They're wood. 6" long and 3 oz +/-, so they're a more compact design for casting. I bought one from M&Ds to try, and after catching a bunch of bass and a few blues on it, I picked up 3 more.
Best part?---under $15

Yeah man Gags sea specials were my go to most of the season. The yozuri surface cruisers are also a good bang for your buck and work great also.I'd suggest grabbing a few of the gags because if you only have one and it fly's away you'll want another asap.I got an afterhours pencil at the end of the season will be doing more tests with that bad boy when the weather breaks.
