Braided line color loss

Me mostly a boat fisherman and where this would come into effect from a boat , I know some braids loose there color but not their strength . How much of the main line would you color with a magic marker non dullable to keep it mostly invisable to the connection between main line and leader i think it might be 4' meaning how much can the fish see in the strike zone?

If you're running a 4' leader, I wouldn't lose any sleep over the color bleaching out of your braid.

The magic marker will come out a heck of a lot quicker than the original color. Personally I don't think it rreally matters. Especially with a long leader.

If you are using a braid , you need a good length of mono or Flouro to add a shock absorber into the system. A few feet will do but more is better. My leaders usually start out about 8 feet and get nibbled down to about 4 then replaced.

Tying direct might not cost you a fish, but it might cost you a little blood if you have to grab the line to land a fish

I like heavy mono and a big enough barrel swivel to give me something soild to aim for if I need to grab the line
